Wisdom for the Journey: Pirkei Avot from Passover to Shavuot

Mondays beginning April 13

10:00 AM

What We Will Cover

The weeks between Passover and Shavuot are a time of spiritual preparation. Having left Egypt, the Jewish people journeyed toward Mount Sinai to receive the Torah. Traditionally, during these weeks we study Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, a collection of timeless teachings about character, responsibility, humility and living a meaningful life.

In this series, we will explore some of the most powerful teachings from Pirkei Avot and ask what they mean for us today. What does it mean to “acquire a friend”? Why do the sages insist that “the world stands on three things”? How do ancient rabbis guide us in navigating ambition, anger, leadership and purpose?

Together we will read, discuss, question and reflect as we travel spiritually from the freedom of Passover to the revelation of Shavuot.
