Sacred Soundtracks: Jewish Wisdom in Secular Songs

Thursdays beginning February 19

11:00 AM

What We Will Cover

In this new class, we’ll explore how famous secular music such as Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Enya, Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, Queen and more, echoes ancient Jewish wisdom. Each session takes one iconic song and uncovers the Torah ideas beneath it: gratitude, brokenness, compassion, repentance, wonder and the quiet courage to change.

Together, we’ll listen, discuss and draw connections between modern lyrics and classic Jewish sources from Torah, Psalms, Midrash and Hasidic thought.

No musical background needed, just a love of music and a curiosity for meaning. Come discover how the soundtrack of your life might already be teaching Jewish theology.
