Ancient Laws, Modern Questions: Torah and the Legal Challenges of Today

Thursdays beginning April 16

11:00 AM

What We Will Cover

From the moment the Torah is given at Mount Sinai, Judaism becomes a civilization shaped by law. Yet the legal principles of the Torah were never meant to remain frozen in the ancient world. For centuries, Jewish thinkers and legal scholars have wrestled with how eternal values meet changing realities.

In this series, we will explore contemporary legal and ethical questions, such as free speech, privacy, economic responsibility, leadership and emerging technologies, through the lens of Jewish law. Using short biblical and rabbinic texts read aloud and discussed together, we will discover how the Torah’s legal tradition continues to offer insight into the challenges of modern life.

Together we will ask: What happens when ancient law meets contemporary dilemmas, and what might it mean to stand at Sinai in our own time?
