Amulets & Angels: A Journey into Medieval Jewish Mysticism

Tuesdays beginning January 6

10:00 AM

What We Will Cover

Step into a side of Jewish history that’s more enchanting, and occasionally unsettling, than you might expect. This class offers a concise exploration of magic and mysticism in medieval Judaism, examining angels, demons, amulets and related practices through primary texts and historical context.

Together we’ll consider how these beliefs intersected with mainstream rabbinic thought and how medieval Jews understood the boundaries between sanctioned tradition and the unseen forces they believed shaped their world.
